Fundraise for BreastfeedLA! You’re an advocate, you're a champion; now be a BreastfeedLA Campaign Lead! We are asking a few of our key partners to rally their friends, family, and networks to support our work by running your own short fundraising campaign during World Breastfeeding Month! You start your own campaign here on Network for Good. It’s free, easy, they give you tools and templates to use, and will help send out notifications to your networks! BreastfeedLA will provide you with a Campaign Toolkit, full of easy-to-use content you can use for posts, in addition to your own words and image. As a BreastfeedLA Campaign Lead, you will contribute to real, immediate change for families all over LA County. You will help:

• provide scholarships for Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, and multiracial students to become lactation professionals serving Los Angeles families
• sustain our advocacy efforts towards stronger laws supporting breast/chestfeeding families
  
• support the growth of the Asian Pacific Islander Breastfeeding Task Force

*Give scholarships to more Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, and multiracial students to take a 90-hour lactation consultant education course

Our comprehensive and dynamic lactation education courses are taught by a diverse group of women using a reproductive justice framework. Our lactation education program graduates go on to educate, support, and uplift hundreds of families in every neighborhood in LA County. When you invest in one lactation student from BreastfeedLA, you invest in a multiplier effect that has a profound impact on Los Angeles' most complex problems of discrimination, poverty, and violence.

*Sustain our advocacy efforts for more comprehensive laws supporting breast/chestfeeding

All of our advocacy work is currently unfunded. BreastfeedLA meets with local and state legislators and organizes advocacy days at the state capitol where we support legislation such as workplace and public space lactation accommodations and paid family leave. We advocate for workers whose lactation rights are violated, and individuals harassed for breast/chestfeeding in public. We advocate for birthing and lactating individuals in the hospital and our COVID-19 response team maintains a database of resources and policies at local birthing hospitals so people know their rights.

*Support the growth of the Asian Pacific Islander Breastfeeding Task Force

BreastfeedLA is very proud of the Asian Pacific Islander Breastfeeding Task Force (APIBTF). Past projects include a photo and video campaign depicting Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander breastfeeding families and their stories, and an Asian language library of breastfeeding resources. Current projects include a directory of API lactation professionals in LA County, as well as offering lactation education scholarships to create more API providers in the field. The APIBTF is dedicated to engaging all sectors of API communities to advocate for more unified breastfeeding support.

Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, Native Breastfeeding Week, Black Breastfeeding Week, and National Breastfeeding Awareness Month by raising vital funds for BreastfeedLA!

Campaign Dates: July 27-August 31

Overall Campaign Goal: $40,000

Individual Lead Campaign Goal: $500 (The sky's the limit!)

We will provide you with a Campaign Toolkit – all the content you need to run your campaign! The toolkit has 15 posts ready for you, 3 posts for each week of the 5-week campaign. Each post will have a BreastfeedLA fact, a paired photo, and hashtag suggestions. The posts will let donors know about the work BreastfeedLA does. The curated will be lactation-related and BreastfeedLA branded. All you have to do is copy, paste, and post!

But as we know at BreastfeedLA – nothing is more powerful than YOUR voice. We provide the toolkit for you to use, but we strongly urge you to add your voice and images too. The personal is powerful!
